The Candidate should be an Indian National, Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical or Vocational subjects and obtained at least 50 % marks(at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) in the above subjects taken together. Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45 % marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only). Passed B.Sc. Degree from a Recognised University as defined by UGC and obtained at least 50 % marks (at least 45 % marks, in case of backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only). Obtained score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority.

All the rules about fees declared by the Government of Maharashtra – Fees Regulating Authority from time to time will be applicable to all the students. For Reserved Category students, Government rules will be followed and will be subject to the submission of all the required documents.

The Institute follows the rules regarding fees, reservation policy, admission policy and document retention policy as per the norms of Director of Technical Education and State Government.

Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 2006. Whereas School of Mechanical and Civil Engineering is established at MIT Academy of Engineering in 2018 with the amalgamation of core engineering branches of Mechanical and Civil. MIT AOE is one of the Top Engineering Colleges in Pune which provides the best B. Tech Mechanical industry oriented course.

The total intake in the department is 180 (120 First Year+60 Direct Second Year) students. MIDC area surrounding Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune are the majority of Mechanical Industries Hubs and there is a huge demand for fresh Mechanical Engineers in various fields like Manufacturing, Testing, Automobiles, Energy Sectors, ERP, CAD-CAM, CAE, Process Equipment, Defence, Software, etc.

Auto Sports Club is one of the most active clubs in the Department, through which students actively participate in various National Level Events like SUPRA & BAJA. Every year the club has bagged various awards and prizes. The overall development of students is ensured through training on soft skills and arranging various Add-On courses in MIT AOE autonomous college for engineering.

Projects of the Final year are sponsored by Mechanical industries like Automation, Machine Tools, Hydraulics, Process industries, etc. Advanced defence projects are sponsored by an organization like DRDO.
