IT is at the forefront of managing the technology infrastructure of the organization, including hardware, software, networking, and data management. Information technology (IT) is a broad professional category covering functions including building communications networks, safeguarding data and information, and troubleshooting computer problems. The department also equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to harness the power of networks, systems, applications, and data and drive transformative solutions across various industries. IT covers a wide range of areas and industries due to its versatility. It is evolving a suitable IT ecosystem with the aim of utilising the benefits of ICT tools for efficient citizen service delivery in a convenient, affordable, accessible, and transparent manner.

The field of information technology (IT) covers the design, administration, and support of computer and telecommunications systems. The objectives of the department are as follows:

  • To establish and successfully operate a new I.T. programme within the MIT Academy of Engineering with the aim of providing high-quality education and fostering research and innovation.
  • To set up and support viable computer networks that will keep systems efficient and reliable.
  • To encompass all hardware and software used in the storing, creation, and accessing of information
  • To create an industrial hub with world-class infrastructure facilities to augment IT industries
  • To promote digital awareness among all sections of society and empower citizens by enhancing their IT skills.

The main strength of the department is its qualified and well-experienced faculty. Also, the department is well equipped with a good number of computer systems, a campus-wide network, and the required software and hardware.
