Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering

Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering is the newest addition to the academic family at MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE). It was started in 2026 with an intake of 120 students to meet the growing demand for engineers who understand both electronics and computing. Today's technology, from smartphones and smart vehicles to medical devices and intelligent machines, depends on hardware and software working together, and this program prepares students to work confidently on both sides.

The Department offers a four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering. It draws on the rich experience of the institute's Department of E&TC Engineering, which has been shaping engineers since 1999 and has been accredited by the NBA four times. The institute has also enjoyed Academic Autonomy, conferred by the UGC, since the academic year 2016-17, giving the Department the freedom to design a curriculum that keeps pace with industry.

The curriculum combines the basic sciences, engineering sciences and a strong set of multidisciplinary courses. In the early semesters, students build their foundations through courses such as Foundations of Differential Analysis and Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and Computational Methods, Physics for Computing, Computational Thinking and Programming, Digital Electronics and Logic Design, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Data-Centric Intelligence. Alongside these, courses such as Design Thinking & Problem Solving, Entrepreneurial Mindset & Opportunity Sensing, Environmental Science & Sustainability, Universal Human Values, Indian Knowledge System, Indian Constitution, English for Communication and a choice of German, Japanese or French help students grow as thoughtful, well-rounded professionals.

As they move ahead, students study core subjects in programming and algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, electronic circuits, embedded systems and signal processing. Crossover courses such as computer architecture, machine learning, and computer and communication networks link the hardware and software worlds. The program also offers focused training in Embedded Systems and IoT, Data Signals and Analytics, and VLSI Design, along with a wide range of electives so students can follow their own interests and career goals.

The Department places strong emphasis on learning by doing. Hands-on work in the Electronics Workshop, programming labs and project-based courses helps students turn ideas into working solutions.

We care about our students' all-round growth. Students will be encouraged to take part in clubs, internships, industry projects, hackathons and technical competitions of national and international repute, such as e-Yantra, the Smart India Hackathon and robotics contests. These experiences build creativity, teamwork and leadership, and prepare students for careers in software, embedded systems, VLSI, data science, cybersecurity, robotics and more, as well as for higher studies and entrepreneurship.

We warmly invite you to join us on this exciting journey of learning, innovation and building technology that makes a real difference to society and industry.
