Civil engineering at MIT Academy of Engineering

Civil engineering at MIT Academy of Engineering

Civil engineering is among the most acclaimed and oldest branches of engineering. The course has vast and varied applications in construction projects such as highways, airports, bridges, canals, tunnels, and wastewater systems. These structures are supervised and designed by civil engineers using their expertise.

Recent trends in civil engineering deal with the design and construction of different kinds of buildings. Pipelines, railroads, levees, drainage, and sanitation systems are several other civil engineering efforts. Civil engineers have an extraordinary opportunity to make advancements that will transform the world. Their expertise aids in:

  • Disaster recovery.
  • Construction of living spaces for a growing population.
  • Providing clean drinking water by constructing dams.
  • Preserving water resources.
  • Building electricity generation plants.

These are the actions that make civil engineering necessary for our world's survival.

About MIT AOE

MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE) in Pune offers seven undergraduate (BE/ B.Tech) and three postgraduate (ME/M.Tech) programs. University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved grants to the institution. Established in 1999 by Professor Dr. Vishwanath Karad, MIT AOE is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune. It has recently become an autonomous institute.

Why choose MIT AOE

MIT AOE provides the students with a comprehensive approach to the branch by incorporating the latest developments into the curriculum:

Structural analysis:

The structural analysis estimates a structure's response to external dynamic forces. The possible external power of a structure is calculated during the preliminary design stage. The size of the interconnected components is determined based on the estimated loads. It is taught in the IV semester.

Geospatial analysis:

GIS technology is gaining attention from various civil engineering disciplines. This is because of its ability to offer new methods of approaching environmental problems, reducing costs, helping multidisciplinary analysis, and improving complex projects' efficiency. Civil engineering GIS is in a crucial position to analyze data and assimilate other technology systems. The subject is available in the IV semester.

Hydraulic structures:

Hydraulic systems are important in civil engineering. Many engineers, especially civil engineers, create fluid storage units that are compatible with different structures. Canals, aqueducts, and pipes constitute some of these structures. Civil engineers can create the future with hydraulic-related streams. Its scope is spread across various locations and industries. The design of a hydraulic system is a part of the VII semester.

The overall objective of MIT AOE

To achieve the goal of catering to their all-round progress, the MIT Academy of Engineering aims to provide its students with quality education. Students of MIT AOE will receive an opportunity to improve their technical skills, soft skills, and communication skills to survive in the business world.

MITAOE offers many varied courses to help prepare students to face real-life problems. The Research and Development cell has been flourishing since its establishment. They focus on finding the best method to bring lasting and sustainable solutions in civil engineering.
