Different Levels of Computer Engineering

  • B.Tech/B.E.: For pursuing this course, a student needs to score a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 to get into an average college. In order to get admission in a top Indian college for pursuing a Computer Engineering degree, a student needs to crack JEE Mains and Advanced. For attempting JEE, a student needs to score 75% with the PCM background in 10+2. Topping the JEE provides a student admission into a Tier-1 College.
  • ME./M.Sc./M.Tech: If a student wants to get admission for a post-graduation course in computer engineering, then the student must clear B.Sc or B.Tech. The eligibility requirement differs as per each college's level. For example, a student needs to get at least 60% and get a top rank in the GATE exam to get admission in IIT Kharagpur. If a student belongs to IIT, then the GATE score of the student can be waived off if the student scores at least 6.5 overall and 8.0 CPI in his or her Bachelor's.
  • M.Phil/Ph.D.: For pursuing a Computer engineering course for the doctorate level, a student must have a postgraduate degree. For being eligible for a doctorate level degree in a top college, the student needs to have a high GATE or NET score.
  • Diploma Courses: There are various diploma courses in the field of computer engineering. To become eligible for a diploma course, a student must have a PCM background in 10+2. Good colleges can provide admission to students if they have a score of at least 40%. The average duration of the diploma course is 3 years.
  • Distance Courses: A lot of National, as well as International Universities, provide various distance learning courses to students from all over the world. In distance learning, the students have online classes and submit online assignments for evaluations in their computer engineering. Since the courses offered by colleges differ, the students need to know about computer engineering course at each of these universities.
